It wasn't enough to have fibromyalgia, I have to get a brain tumor. But hey, I was told that if you're going to get a brain tumor a meningioma is the one to get. I get the "cool" tumor. My brother Ed decided we should name it and he likes King Tut. I'm good with that. He says King Tut lives in a tomb and I have a "tomb-a" so I say, bring it on King Tut because I'm gonna kick your ass. Well, not so much kick it but send it positive healing surrounded by angels, Buddhist mantras and harp music.Oh, and brain surgery. Gotta cover all the bases.
I suppose I should find the SNL sketch of Steve Martin doing King Tut. Perhaps visualizing Martin dancing his way out of my skull is therapeutic.
Shit, now I have to learn interesting ways to wrap a scarf. Or find a Lady Gaga knock-off wig. My son suggests I get temporary tattoos of bolts and place them on my neck. My kids have already decided that if my personality changes after surgery no one will really notice anyway. There is something to be said about being unique.
Time to head to bed, lay there, listen to wifey snore and hope my inner dialog allows me some sleep.
And tomorrow when someone who doesn't really care about the answer asks, "How are you today?" I can say, "Awesome, I have a brain tumor." The reaction will be worth it.
